Vietnam International Textile and Apparel and Garment Technology Exhibition (VIATT 2024)

On August 28, at the Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics Autumn Edition 2023, the largest edition of the global Intertextile trade fair series, the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade), under the authorization of the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade, held a press conference to introduce the Vietnam International Textile and Apparel and Garment Technology Exhibition (VIATT 2024). VIATT 2024 is set to be the region’s leading international textile and garment industry exhibition.

The press conference was co-chaired by Vu Ba Phu, Director General of Vietrade, Uwe Behm, Member of the Executive Board of Messe Frankfurt Group, and Wendy Wen, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt (Hong Kong).

Nguyen The Tung, Consul General of Vietnam in Shanghai, also attended the event.

Recognizing the high competitive advantages of Vietnam’s textile and garment industry at the national, regional, and global levels, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has assigned Vietrade to cooperate with Messe Frankfurt Group to organize the annual VIATT 2024.

The inaugural VIATT will take place from February 28 to March 1, 2024, at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City.

VIATT is designed to be a comprehensive exhibition that meets all the needs of businesses in the textile and garment industry. Representatives from both Messe Frankfurt and Vietrade highly acknowledged the practicality and opportunities that VIATT will bring to the entire value chain of the textile and garment industry. This is the first time a leading regional event of this kind will be held in Ho Chi Minh City, at a time when businesses are looking for spring sourcing.

In its first year, the exhibition is expected to attract more than 500 exhibitors with a total exhibition area of approximately 18,000 square meters and around 35,000 visitors.

VIATT 2024: A Gateway to the Dynamic Vietnamese Textile and Garment Market

Ms. Wendy Wen commented on VIATT 2024: “This exhibition covers the entire textile and garment value chain. VIATT will effectively expand our market reach to Southeast Asia to strengthen our global professional network. Our network, with over half a million textile professionals connected globally and having organized over 50 international textile trade fairs in 11 different countries, will provide comprehensive support to VIATT. With this agreement, we will leverage our over 30 years of experience in organizing Intertextile Apparel Fabrics fairs in China and expand into the fast-growing textile and garment industry in Vietnam.”

Ms. Wen added that Intertextile has become the most influential event in Messe Frankfurt’s professional network, with a vast range of resources in apparel fabrics, home textiles, and contract textiles.

With the largest international airport and seaport in Vietnam, as well as its proximity to other textile and garment manufacturing countries and regions, Ho Chi Minh City is strategically positioned to host this international event. The city attracts 35% of Vietnam’s foreign direct investment projects and is the chosen location for most of the country’s trade fairs.

Discussing the potential of the event, Mr. Vu Ba Phu said: “Vietnam has emerged as one of the top 3 textile and garment exporters in the world with a remarkably high growth rate, averaging nearly 20% over the past 10 years. As companies seek to diversify their supply chains and with Vietnam possessing important new-generation free trade agreements, this market is predicted to attract even more investment. Green production and sustainable products are also becoming increasingly important. Therefore, VIATT 2024 will be a meeting place for suppliers and buyers of all categories to source and maximize the potential of this market.”

By connecting textile companies from across Asia, Europe, and beyond to this dynamic market, VIATT 2024 will play a significant role in shaping the future of Vietnam’s textile and garment industry.

The 2024 exhibition will gather domestic and international exhibitors operating in various segments of the global textile and garment industry, including apparel, fabrics and garment accessories, fibers and yarns, digital printing, home textiles, technical textiles and nonwovens, textile processing, and textile machinery.

Exhibitors and buyers can utilize the exhibition’s global business matching service, where connections are made based on the specific needs of each party.

In addition to its primary function as an international trading forum, fringe events at the exhibition will also create opportunities for participants to connect with industry leaders and gain diverse market insights through seminars, forums, and panel discussions.

With the strong trade development of Vietnam’s textile and garment industry, the Organizing Committee is confident
