VIATT 2024: A Promising Platform for the Textile and Garment Industry

Recognizing the high competitive advantages of Vietnam’s textile and garment industry at the national, regional, and global levels, MOIT has assigned Vietrade to cooperate with Messe Frankfurt Group (Germany) to organize the annual Vietnam International Textile and Apparel and Garment Technology Exhibition (VIATT). The first VIATT will take place from February 28 to March 1, 2024, at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City.

Highlighting the comprehensiveness of VIATT in meeting all business needs, representatives from both Messe Frankfurt and Vietrade agreed on the practicality and opportunities that VIATT will bring to the entire value chain of the textile and garment industry. This is the first time a leading regional event of this kind will be held in Ho Chi Minh City, at a time when businesses are looking for spring sourcing.

The exhibition is expected to gather over 500 domestic and international exhibitors operating in various segments of the global textile and garment industry, including apparel, fabrics and garment accessories, fibers and yarns, digital printing, home textiles, technical textiles and nonwovens, textile processing, and textile machinery. It will cover an area of approximately 18,000 square meters and attract around 35,000 visitors.

Ms. Wendy Wen, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt, emphasized the global significance of the exhibition: “VIATT will effectively expand our market reach to Southeast Asia, complementing our existing events in China and strengthening our global professional network. The exhibition covers the entire textile and garment value chain. Our network, connecting over half a million textile professionals worldwide and having organized more than 50 international textile trade fairs in 11 different countries, will provide comprehensive support to VIATT.”

Ms. Wen also added that with this agreement, the company will leverage its over 30 years of experience in organizing Intertextile Apparel Fabrics fairs in China and expand into the fast-growing textile and garment industry in Vietnam. To date, Intertextile has become the most influential event in Messe Frankfurt’s professional network, with a vast range of resources in apparel fabrics, home textiles, and contract textiles.

With the largest international airport and seaport in Vietnam, as well as its proximity to other textile and garment manufacturing countries and regions, Ho Chi Minh City attracts 35% of foreign direct investment projects and is strategically positioned to host this international event.

VIATT 2024: A Meeting Place for Suppliers and Buyers

Discussing the potential of the event, Mr. Vu Ba Phu, Director General of Vietrade, stated that Vietnam has emerged as one of the top 3 textile and garment exporters in the world, with a remarkably high growth rate, averaging nearly 20% over the past 10 years.

Mr. Phu emphasized: “As companies seek to diversify their supply chains and with Vietnam possessing important new-generation free trade agreements, this market is predicted to attract even more investment. Green production and sustainable products are also becoming increasingly important. Therefore, VIATT 2024 will be a meeting place for suppliers and buyers of all categories to source and maximize the potential of this market.”

By connecting textile companies from across Asia, Europe, and beyond to this dynamic market, VIATT 2024 will play a significant role in shaping the future of Vietnam’s textile and garment industry.

Exhibitors and buyers can utilize the exhibition’s global business matching service, where connections are made based on the specific needs of each party. In addition to its primary function as an international trading forum, fringe events at the exhibition will also create opportunities for participants to connect with industry leaders and gain diverse market insights through seminars, forums, and panel discussions.
